Morse Code Video Translator

A Morse code video translator is a tool that finds Morse code in a video — as a blinking light or as beeps — and turns it into text. Upload a clip, aim the target at the light or switch to Sound, and press Scan video.

The video records in real time, so a short message takes a few seconds.

Bright bars are frames above the threshold. Re-aim the target and scan again if the light was missed.

It reads the light frame by frame using each frame's real timestamp, so speeds stay accurate even when the video's frame rate changes. It can also record your own text as a blinking-lamp WebM video.

What Is a Morse Code Video Translator?

A Morse code video translator is a decoder that measures a light's brightness in every video frame, or a tone's strength in the soundtrack, and times each on and off period to recover the dots and dashes.

Videos from films, games, social media and security cameras often hide Morse in a flashing lamp, an LED or a beeping device. The translator reads both kinds.

How Morse Code Video Decoding Works

Video decoding works in 5 steps: load, aim, play, measure and decode. The translator plays the video once, samples the target in every frame with its exact timestamp, separates light from dark, and decodes the timing like any other Morse signal.

In Sound mode, it reads the soundtrack instead, finds the beep's pitch and tracks only that tone.

Light or Sound: Which to Decode

Decode by light when the Morse code is a visible flash, and by sound when you can hear beeps. When a video has both, sound is usually more accurate, because audio is measured every 8 ms while video frames arrive every 33 ms at 30 fps.

Light mode is the only option for silent clips, GIFs converted to video and security footage.

Measures the brightest pixels inside the target in every frame. Works on silent clips; fastest readable speed is about 0.4 × frame rate in WPM.

Video Settings That Decode Best

Videos decode best when the camera is steady, the light fills a clear part of the frame and the frame rate is at least 24 fps. Heavy compression and filters can smear short flashes into the frames around them.

Use the original file rather than a screen recording of it, which can drop frames.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How do I decode Morse code from a video?

To decode Morse code from a video, upload the clip, click the picture to aim the target at the light and press Scan video. For beeps, choose Sound before scanning. The text appears when the scan ends.

Can I decode Morse code from a YouTube or TikTok video?

Yes, if you have the video saved as a file. Download or save the clip first, then upload it here. The translator cannot read videos directly from a link.

Why didn't the translator find the light?

The target was probably not on the light. Pause, click the exact spot where the light blinks, shrink the target, and scan again. Lower the threshold for a dim light.

Which video formats are supported?

Any format your browser can play: usually MP4, WEBM and MOV. MP4 with H.264 video works in every modern browser.

Can I make a Morse code video?

Yes, open Turn text into a Morse video, type your message, choose a speed and press Record & download. You get a WebM video of a lamp blinking your message.

Is my video uploaded?

No, the video is decoded entirely in your browser and never leaves your device.
